Sales Engineer

Task
The Sales Engineer is responsible for handling technical and commercial customer inquiries and orders, preparing quotations, and overseeing order processing. This role involves conducting customer negotiations, managing existing accounts, and securing new business. Additionally, the Sales Engineer supports Key Account Managers with administrative and organizational tasks, maintains customer data, and prepares sales reports and documentation.
- Manage technical and commercial customer inquiries and orders, ensuring timely preparation of quotations in coordination with internal departments.
- Coordinate order processing with Production and Logistics and monitor delivery schedules and deadlines.
- Maintain and expand the customer base by acquiring new clients.
- Conduct pricing, award, and contract negotiations with customers.
- Support Key Account Managers with administrative and organizational duties.
- Maintain and manage customer master data.
- Prepare and follow up on customer visits and meetings.
- Prepare and manage sales reports and documentation.
- Support market and competitor analyses and assist in planning and executing marketing campaigns and sales promotion activities.
REQUIREMENTS
- Completed commercial education, ideally in sales, or a comparable qualification
- Initial experience in inside sales or in a similar position
- Knowledge of quality requirements and procedures in the automotive industry, particularly in stamping and forming, metals, and/or lightweight materials/plastics
- Strong knowledge in sales, order processing, and customer service
- Solid understanding of business operations and processes
- Excellent proficiency in German and / or English, both written and spoken; additional languages are an asset
- Advanced user skills in common Microsoft applications and ERP systems (e.g., proAlpha)
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with clients
- Ability to understand customer needs and concerns and provide effective solutions
- High level of service orientation and enjoyment in working with people
- Strong initiative, reliability, and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain focus under pressure
- Team player with a readiness to collaborate across departments
